Time to Sing

Sometimes it is hard to get past all of the things we feel we must do in a day.  If we are still of working age, the demands of an 8 to 5 job can spill over into evenings continuing to insert its way into our home lives. For the working woman, who may be married or have a family demands can sometimes be overwhelming.  Even a single woman has many demands on her time since employers often expect her to pick up the slack thinking it would be more convenient for her to do so. No matter where we stand in life, all external aspects of life can invade our home and privacy.  We are always feeling the need to take care of things.  We see stacks of mail that need to be answered.  There are dishes in the sink and clothes in the washer.  There is a large pile of books that we feel compelled to read.  The garden beckons to us like a long lost friend.  We are drawn into it and soon are engaged in bending down so that our noses can get a whiff of the scent of a flower or pulling weeds that have had the hubris to invade our well planned landscape.  As we finally exit the garden we feel restored.  Every weed we pulled represents an uninvited visitor to our garden. Time passes so quickly.  Before we realize it, it is past noon and dishes still sit in the sink, clothes still need to be washed and mail still waits to be answered.  As we reenter the house, our time in the garden has restored us but witnessing the overwhelming level of work still to do, we must make a choice.  We can grip and complain or we can sing.  I choose to sing.  Singing is a great way to pass the time.  The music lifts up your spirits and suddenly doing a sink of dishes can be delightful as you sing along with Michael W. Smith as he sings a beautiful song "Grace".  You can twirl around the kitchen as you listen to Lee Ann Womack's "I hope you'll dance".  More delight fills you as you listen to music which does connect to the soul of man and ultimately enters into the feet and before you know it, you have created your own dance and are enthralled by the music that falls on your ears.  Carrying the folded laundry from room to room becomes a delight as you listen to the Blackwood Brothers "In the Shelter of His Arms" or Vestal Goodman as she belts out "God Walks the Dark Hills".  One of the most wonderful gifts God has blessed human kind with is the gift of worship.  How uplifting and amazing as you create your own worship to Him by enjoying the lovely music we have all around us!  We no longer feel overwhelmed; we have made a decision to worship with all of our spirit, soul and body.  The music elevates our spirit to new heights as we offer unto the Lord a sacrifice of praise. Delight yourself in the Lord, my friend, the rewards far exceed the effort and that is the Real Truth.
