About Religion
There seems to be a great deal of confusion about religion. Religions came into being long before God picked the children of Israel to be His chosen people. Religion started at the Tower of Babel. Mankind is born with a need to worship and this need will select almost anything to be fulfilled. Celebrity today, is the primary avenue that man chooses to direct his worship. Sports is also high on the list perhaps higher than celebrity.
God did not come to create a religion. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to restore a broken relationship. It is all about relationship. God wanted to once again have a relationship with the mankind that He had created. The only way that was going to happen was for the sin problem to be dealt with. Mankind's relationship was lost with God when sin entered the picture. Unbelief in what God told Adam and Eve to do with respect to the tree in the garden whose fruit was not to be eaten led Eve to sin. Eve, in unbelief and being intellectually overshadowed by the enemy of our soul, acted upon the word of satan and ended up being deceived. She chose to not believe what God told her. She ate of the fruit and gave it to Adam as well. Thus sin was introduced into the world and our holy God cannot be in the presence of sin. The relationship that included walks in the cool of the day was severed and had to be restored. Sacrifices were introduced. Sin demanded that blood be shed. God covered Adam and Eve with clothing from the animals that were sacrificed. From that point on, only through blood could mankind have a relationship with God. However, that relationship was limited. Then, Jesus, God's Son came to the earth. He took on the role of advocate and mediator between mankind and God. He laid down His own life's blood so that mankind could once again have a relationship with the God who loved him so much. It was through this blood that God looked again on man. Christ the sinless man, died in our place. As we accept Him as Lord and Savior of our life, we can find forgiveness for sin and His blood cleanses us. The relationship that Adam and Eve once had has been restored for God not only walks with us, He lives within us through the power of the precious Holy Spirit. How blessed we are to know this King and Priest, who ever liveth to make intercession for us. If we make a mistake, His blood is there to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Now we can know relationship, not religion. What religion could and never shall do, relationship through Christ has done. Religion is a futile attempt to build a way to heaven. Christ is the way. He bridged the gap for us as we receive Him into our lives. It is good for us to gather together and worship the God that we love. However, religion cannot save us. You can join every church you know and every religion that you know but you will never get close to the living God until you invite Christ into your heart. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no man will get to the Father God except through Him. Don't be frustrated by the failure of religion, work on a living relationship with the Almighty God who loves you so much. That is what matters and that my friend, is the real truth!
