Our Extremist Court
I am so upset today that our Supreme Court, poorly named I must say, should be our extremist court has once again decided to do away with the rights of individuals and side with corporations. I do not in any way believe in abortion but I think it is most unfair to thrust my beliefs upon others especially those who are unfortunate enough to work for me. I will not be shopping at Hobby Lobby anymore and I would encourage all of those who love crafts to look elsewhere for a supplier. What has happened to the rights of individuals? It seems that we are being drug into a monotheistic government and for myself I think that is a dangerous path. Whose god are we going to be serving: the true and living God or some other god devised by man? As Stephen Prothero wrote in his book, "God is not ONE", we are heading down a slippery slope if we think that the god of the Mormons is the same God of Christians or that the Allah of Islam is the same god of the Buddhist. When government begins to define God and religion, real believers in the living God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the God-man Jesus Christ, need to pay heed to what is being said. Foolishly, we think that we can legislate morality. When will we wake up and realize that we are dealing with a sin problem in the lives of individuals? Jesus Christ paid an extremely high price for you and I and if we continue to look everywhere else but to Him we will never find the answers that we need for the struggles we face in life.
I feel that on some level, the family that owns Hobby Lobby is just too cheap to pay the extra money for the contraceptives that their employees need. It is also interesting to note that most of their employees appear to be women. I had one of them tell me some time back, that they had waited for their promised raise to materialize for months when the family who owned the store was busy giving millions of dollars to some TV preacher. Do I want to support whoever it is that they are supporting? Is it worthwhile for me to do so? Do I even believe as this preacher believes? I think I will do my shopping at Joann's. They have very nice selections and the price is just as reasonable. I love the Lord and will willingly support His work, that is why I belong to a church and pay my tithes. If I want to support someone's religious beliefs, I need to know a whole lot more about them. If religion is their business they are doing a very poor job of doing what Jesus would have done but perhaps it is not Jesus that they are serving. I certainly don't sense any great awakening upon entering their doors. I am sick of these groups using our freedom of religion laws to circumvent obeying the law. Our supreme court needs to wake up and do what is right for everyone. Next thing you know, they'll be telling us who to worship and how to worship. Wake up people! Take a stand for what is right for once!
