Real Freedom

The Lord has blessed us with refreshing rain.  Our long brown and dismal yard is now green with life.  The birds and butterflies visit roses covered in blooms.  It is delightful to see everything alive.  My if we could only see the beauty of life that we have been given when Christ died for us.  He took a dismal brown existence and made something rich and beautiful take its place.  How blessed we are!  What a privilege to be the child of our gracious and loving Heavenly Father!  My heart rejoices in His presence!

For many of us life is just a meager existence.  There is little joy and peace.  When happiness does arise for a brief moment it can be quickly swept away with an unkind word or a cruel act.  So many live in the realm of despair and futility.  They have no idea of all of the wonderful things that God has in store for their lives if they would only choose Him.  I am often saddened by the struggles that I see people go through.  Just like puppets on a string, the enemy tosses them about having his will and way in their lives.  Some have been fooled into thinking that they can actually have power by going along with him.  That is a big lie and one day they will be faced with the reality of the small trap they have been living in all along.  The bird born to be sold does not know the freedom of living outside the cage.  The little guppy who is born in captivity never experiences the joy of swimming in a real environment.  He may be fed and be allowed some privileges of mating and staking out his territory, but in reality he is a captive.  Held in a small small trap that he doesn't even recognize.  This was the way of our lives and is the way of many individuals lives these days.  They are held in captivity but believe that they are actually free.

The scripture says that he who the Son has set free is free indeed.  Until you have experienced the freedom from God's Son, Jesus, you are really captive.  Your captivity may allow a few privileges such as money, power and perhaps even a bit of fame but the reality is that you are still a prisoner.  You are owned by someone who is just waiting to see what fun he can have with your life.  He already has your soul and one day he will take it.  In Christ we can know real freedom.  We can choose to make decisions that seem right or good.  We may make mistakes but He, our Lord, is always there to direct out lives for its eternal good.  Christ always has our best interest at heart.  We will go through times of difficulty but we are never alone.  He is always with us bearing us up in His loving arms.  Knowing God allows real freedom.  It is not a disguise or a facade but it is real freedom and real peace.  Deception is the heart of our enemy.  He loves to deceive.  The scripture tells us that he is a liar and the father of lies.  Even we can be deceived if we do not always allow God to work first in our lives.

Let us look around ourselves and see what God has done.  God is good the scripture declares.  Indeed, He is good.  In fact He is goodness personified.  In seeing God's work in our lives, we are witnesses of His goodness, grace and love.  Strip away the lies, the deceit and allow God to open your eyes to see who you really are.  May your life flourish in the presence of our Lord and Savior.  May others flock to your life because they see it as rich and full.  Just as the birds and butterflies enter the garden, may our lives be the kind that would attract others to Christ.  That my friend is the real truth!
