The day looks a bit grey.  Clouds are blocking out the sun.  I know that somewhere the sun is shining.  We just can't see it today.  It is hard to accept that good things can come out of bad.  We see grey and that is all we see.  The reality is that all things do work together for good for them that love the Lord.  He can give us the strength to look beyond the grey and see the blue.  That bright ball of yellow that shines down on us so warmly is sometimes dimmed by the clouds of grey but in the background, the sun is shining.  What do we do when troubles come?  Do we allow ourselves to believe that there can be an answer to our difficulties and problems?  Answers are there we just need to know how to see them.  When the clouds of doubt and despair grip our thoughts, we must determine that we are not going to allow them to wipe out the brightness that is there.  It is to easy to be suffocated by the shadows but shadows would not exist without a light source.  So even in the darkest moments of our lives we can rejoice that the light will shine through.  It always has and it always will.

The death of someone we love will cause us to think that the sun can't possibly shine but we lay down our heads and awake to the brightness of dawn.  The sun always arises.  It brings with it a new day, a fresh day.  We make a choice about what we will do with that day.  Will we use it to mourn and weep over things that we are powerless to change or will we use it to rejoice that we had the moments to visit, love and share our time with those we loved?  Every day we make a choice to rejoice or to mourn.  It is appropriate to mourn for a time.  The closer to the loss the greater the sadness but as time passes we must realize that the one we loved would not want us to spend our days in mourning.  They would  want us to go on with life.  From their going, they say to us "Waste not a moment.  Make each day count for this is all you have and you do not know how long it will be. Enjoy the time you have with those you love.  Be kind to those you don't know.  Give of yourself.  Your time will be well spent."

We must hold to the unchanging hand of God.  Only He knows what our future holds for us.  If we have placed it in His hands, then we are wise indeed.  It is foolhardy for us to plan out our lives as if we have control.  My Dad always said, "God has me in His pocket."  I have realized that being in God's pocket is a very special place to be.  My Dad always wore these shirts that had a pocket right over his heart.  He said that that was where God carried him.  I believe that when we are riding in God's pocket, close to His heart we are in very very good hands.  He knows the way that I take and when He has tried me I shall come out as pure gold.  Only God knows the way that we take.  Only God can guarantee the outcome.  So when the sun seems to forget how to shine just remember that in the shadows there is always a bright light.  We need only wait for it and that my friend is the real truth.
